Sally Yates Kellerman , a member of the Silver City, N.M. Rotary Club, is District 5520 Governor for 2020-21.

This year marks the 103rd anniversary of the Rotary Foundation. What began with a donation of $26.50 has become a $3 billion effort today by Rotarians here in our communities and around the world in support of humanitarian efforts.

Rotary International's goal of eradicating polio that began in 1984 is getting closer to reality each year. We're almost there.

Some 800 third graders in Los Lunas, Peralta, Tome and Bosque Farms receive their own dictionaries at the start of each school year to keep and use, courtesy of the Los Lunas Rotary Club. The Dictionary Project, now in its 11th year, is funded by donations from club members.

Los Lunas Rotarians meet some 80 children and families at Walmart each holiday season where each of 80 children choose winter clothing up to $100. The families are selected by Los Lunas Schools, based on need. The program is paid for by members, grants and proceeds from our "Pancakes For A Cause" breakfast.

The Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) training program is for juniors in high school entering their senior year. Our district RYLA Camp (one week each for boys and girls) emphasizes leadership, citizenship and personal growth. Camp is held at Manzano Mountain Retreat.

Los Lunas Rotary Club meets with and selects several students each spring from among numerous applicants attending local high schools. We award a $1,000 college scholarship to each, providing they successfully complete the camp experience, their senior year in high school, and are accepted to a recognized post-secondary school."
